non-profit organization preserving historical records and artifacts
relating to the history of Pocahontas County, West Virginia.

CONTRIBUTIONS
Preserving Pocahontas receives a portion of
hotel/motel tax from the Pocahontas County Commission to locate and
digitize historical collections for free public access. Contributions from
individuals, businesses, and organizations are welcome.
Preserving Pocahontas is a private, nonprofit
organization, exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. As such, gifts
to the organization are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Purposes and
Objectives of Preserving Pocahontas
To collect and
preserve historical records and artifacts of Pocahontas County.
To digitize and
provide public access to historical collections.
To support
preservation and genealogical efforts in Pocahontas County.
To provide
education programs relating to local history and preservation.
To foster the preservation and use of records of enduring
value in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, public and private, corporate
and individual, and to improve the management and the public awareness and
understanding of such records.
To provide assistance to County residents and others in
matters relating to County history.
To cooperate with
other organizations and institutions having similar interests.
To encourage and support activities and
projects concerned with the preservation and presentation of the history of
the County.
